Clean Rooms and Nirvana

sandiamonds

One day in my 12th grade English class, I can remember my teacher--Dr. Whittier--telling us that the best way to make writing easy was actually to abandon writing and clean your room instead.  By cleaning your room, you were also cleaning your mind.  And with a clean mind, writing would come easily, and words would flow onto the page.

That advice doesn't just apply to writing.   Given how simple it is, it's deceivingly useful.  Life operates better with clean rooms.  Although I wouldn't necessarily say "cleanliness is next to godliness" (I've yet to become a demi-god after cleaning my room), I'd reckon cleanliness is next nirvana.  It empties your mind and lets you focus on your life.

Thus, although it won't reveal the secrets of the universe, a clean room will take you halfway to nirvana.
